Happy St. Hallmark's Day! Date Recap and Some Love Related Articles

Date Recap: Dudley Do Right Edition: Dinner, chit-chat, me awkwardly bringing up that I have pink-eye.  Also, here's a really good example of how awkward and weird I am on first-dates:
(I don't exactly remember the discussion that precipitated this gem, but let me make one up for demonstration purposes)
DDR: Yah, so my friend and her roommates bought a new stove but the landlord is such a dick that she had to practically beg him to put it in.
Me: Oh I bet that phrase comes up all the time!  Not!
DDR: Oh, rimshot. (imagined internal monologue: "oh, this is just the girl I want to take home to meet my parents")

So, between the (previously, not at the time of the date) communicable disease and my gutter-mind Tourrets  I bet Diddums (HP reference, get with it) can't wait to take me out again.  I also thought about how this ties back to openly displaying the evolutionary disadvantages I apparently suffer from, so now its not only an inability to chew and swallow life-sustaining food without a brush with death, but also an inability to fight off infection of such important organs as eyeballs.

Despite all these absurdities, I am not actually disappointed because, while Mr. Do Right was very pleasant, reasonably attractive and friendly, there is no lingering interest on my part what-so-ever.  I got the impression that the same could be said for Dudley.  One could even say the date was, wait for it, a DUD!  Ba-dum-ch.

In other news, today was St. Valentine's day.  It was amazing for me.  Not.  I actually don't give a shit about Valentine's day, other than the fact that my yoga teacher made lots of you're-all-sad-for-being-here-on-Valentine's-day jokes (yes, he was there on Valentine's day too.  Sadly, his weird mid-twisting chair pose hug was the only action I got today).

However, the time suck that is the AV Club (avclub.com) had two excellent love-related articles.  The first is just amazing and hilarious and almost makes me want to get married.  It requires no introduction or exposition by me:
I love Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally

The second was a surprisingly insightful commentary on dating these days by none other than Tom Haverford, aka, Aziz Ansari.  While the Offerman/Mullally piece is short and nothing but snarky hilarity, Mr. Ansari's opinions on and musings about dating were surprisingly insightful and somewhat fatalistic.  Mid-read, I realized that I agree with a lot of what he said, although I have never thought these things through as thoroughly as he has.  Whether you are single or have long forgotten what dating is like, its worth a read.
Aziz has insights!
