Thunder-man-dome: Two Men Enter, One Man Asks Me Out

Well, friends and family, it has been 2 months since I've posted.  In those months I have been living the exciting single life: sitting on my ass and occasionally cleaning the house.  I began and finished a cardigan, I spent some time with my parental units, did some serious babysitting (in the middle of that, actually) and saw a comedy show or two.  I know, try to calm your jealousy.  You can continue to read my blog and envy my glamorous, action-packed life style.

Two weeks ago a non-horrifying gentleman, AfroStan, messaged me.  He was so not atrocious that I decided I didn't mind the fact that he is at least 2 inches shorter than me.  Despite my pledge to date all applicants, I have had an issue agreeing to go out with those shorter than myself.  Plus, AfroStan, has a lot of hair and his photos suggest that this particular feature may very well bring his height close to or above mine.  However, we will likely never know exactly how tall AfroStan is, because the dummy stopped replying.  So, screw you AfroStan!  Just kidding, I hope you found a beautiful and talented internet lady.

Theeeeen, I got a message from HipsterDan.

He is likewise non-atrocious, AND he is just about my height!  I'm actually a bit nervous that my expectations have reached unreasonable heights based on his photos, profile, messages and questions.  You see, he is, according to his photos, an attractive, bearded, bespectacled hipster.  In addition, he is a craftsman who produces useful objects, a pursuit I myself quite enjoy and rarely share with my suitors.  Further, he has been very message-y.  I appreciate that he messages in what I consider a timely manner and he says things that make me like him.  Finally, I checked out many of the questions he has answered and they paint a picture of a fellow who is polite, open-minded and thoughtful.  So, although HipsterDan is out of town this weekend and I am in the midst of a multi-day babysitting gig, we agreed- upon his suggestion- to get a drink this week.  I am rather looking forward to it, but trying with all my might to maintain reasonable expectations.

So, in this dating Thunderdome, AfroStan and HipsterDan have unwittingly battled for my affection.  Through attrition, HipsterDan has emerged victorious.  I must admit I was very surprised to be the object of two men's affection after such a long dry spell, but it has been very nice and a bit reassuring.

After over two months without a date, this should be veryyyyy interesting . . . updates to follow!
